Gumgum names MEC’s Global Chief Digital Officer Carl Fremont to Advisory Board
Los Angeles, CA – GumGum, the premium in-image advertising platform for publishers and brands, today announced the appointment of Carl Fremont to its advisory board. Fremont was recently named Global Chief Digital Officer at MEC, one of the world’s largest media agency networks, after serving as EVP, Media Director at global integrated brand agency Digitas.
The task of the advisory board is to provide strategic counsel on various company endeavors, from identifying and discussing industry trends to advising on the direction of future GumGum products. Fremont joins three other influential leaders from the adtech community – David Sacks, CEO of Yammer Inc.; Michael Jones, former CEO of MySpace; and Vince Thompson, Managing Partner at Middleshift LLC.
“Carl brings significant experience and deep insights across the digital media landscape, making him a formidable force in in the advertising industry,” said Ophir Tanz, founder and CEO of GumGum. “We are thrilled to have Carl join our Board and are excited to round out our team with an advertising industry perspective.”
Fremont brings more than 30 years of advertising, marketing and media expertise as an Advisory Board member. Prior to joining MEC last month, Fremont spent 13 years at Digitas where he led the global media practice comprised of over 500 professionals in seven domestic and international offices, working with clients including America Express, Whirlpool, Delta, Sprint, Mars, Meade Johnson, Taco Bell and eBay. In addition to GumGum’s Advisory Board, he serves on the advisory boards of a select number of digital venture groups and is on the Executive Board of the Ad Club of New York.
“In-image advertising is an ingenious way to do something media strategists have been attempting to do since the internet’s inception – monetize the millions of photos on the web,” said Fremont. “GumGum is an exciting, forward-thinking company filled with bright and creative industry innovators, and I am honored and excited to be a part of its continued growth and success.”
